Q: I brought a new transponder, What do i do now?

Q: I don’t have a Speedhive account, What now?
A: You will primarily need a Speedhive account to activate transponders that you purchase, you will need a Speedhive account and either a PC for X2 or a smartphone for TR2 transponders.
Q: What can i do if i don’t have email?
A: You can create a Hotmail or Gmail email quickly and for free and its rather straight forward.
Q: What happens to my transponder after the subscription ends?
A: On the subscription end date the transponder will no longer send out a signal and will need to have its subscription renewed and be reactivated. Transponders work similar to prepaid phones, you purchase the unit and a base subscription period, after the period you need to renew the subscription. Renewals are cheaper then the original purchase as you are not replacing the device itself.
Q: How do i store my transponder in the off season?
A: Transponders have an internal battery and letting that battery stay discharged for long periods of time can damage the battery. It is strongly advised that at least once a month put the device through 1 or 2 full charge/discharge cycles by fully charging and discharging it. TR2 and classic transponders are better with this as they will sleep when stored in their cradle and not fully discharge like an X2.
Q: Can i sell my transponder?
A: Yes you can, but you will need to unlink it from your Speedhive account, see HERE for instructions on how to do that. If you unlink a transponder anyone with the transponder number can then link it to their account, so if selling online be sure to hide the transponder number from view.
Q: Can i buy a second hand transponder?
A: Yes, but before you do you need to make sure that the seller has removed it from their Speedhive account, otherwise you will not be able to reactivate it or extend its subscription.
Q: I have a (Red,Yellow,Orange) Transponder and have been told to get (Red,Yellow,Orange) do i need a different one?
A: Maybe, the Orange(MX) ones are designed primarily around motor cross and will not work with anything else, so if you are told you need a Orange or MX transponder then you will need to get one. As for the Red(Car/Bike) / Yellow(Kart) they vary on features. Yellow transponders have a weaker signal, wont work up to as high of a speed as the red, as they are designed to be mounted to a go kart 1-2 inch off the ground. Red transponders are designed for faster/larger vehicles. Red transponders will work in place of a Yellow, but using a Yellow in place of a Red is not recommended as it may not be detected and may result in DNS/DNF.
